This is like brandy in my belly!! Nice and warm in my belly!
Red velvet cake for the birthday boy!
When I was a kid growing up in Michigan, my family called this a “burgundy” cake. We never put cream cheese icing on it either (ick) but rather one made with a cooked flour/milk paste, butter, sugar and vanilla. I’ve been told it’s a North/South thing. But who knows?
Chris asked for Chili & cornbread for his Birthday/Superbowl dinner.
After having to ditch my dinner plan yesterday because all 5 of my avocados were bad - today I finally got them!!!! They have been pushed back for a week now cos Chris wasn’t feeling well and just wanted soup. I have a happy belly!!!!
Perks of assisting! Snacks! Raw taco!
added the spices to the Preserved lemons… just 3-4 more weeks and I can start using them!!!!
Sunday Morning’s are for decadent breakfasts- pumpkin french toast w/ ginger candied walnuts, rosemary apple chutney & maple syrup.
It’s rough being an intern!!!! My buddies!!!!
Friday night is pizza night!
Intern work today w/ The Blissful Chef - Vegan & Gluten free empanadas w/ sweet adzuki bean filling
Externing Friday consisted of me making creamy asparagus soup as part of a cook book review. Pretty good but I would use more asparagus and maybe cook the potatoes first so the asparagus is a little greener than it was. Looked more like split pea soup.
Oil soaked dates & walnuts w/ lavender, cardamom, cinnamon, saffron, black pepper and vanilla.
Project #2 - Christmas gifts I never made because I got sick.
We learned how to make these in the Ayurvedic portion of my culinary School modules. Vata calming. Not that anyone in my family is very Vata (Kapha mostly - I added extra black pepper for good measure) and is the last thing we should be having… but they are just sooooo good!!!
